AbstractABSTRACT: This study analyses the vertical structure of convective and stratiform rainfall in Rondônia, and the mean cloud height during the WETAMC – TRMM/LBA. The analyses were done using the PR (Precipitation Radar) sensor data on board of TRMM satellite (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission). The study period ranges from January to February 1999. The obtained results show significative spatial variability of rainfall in that region, the highest rainfall rates occurs in northern Rondônia and the lowest ones occurs in the center. It was observed that the convective rain prevails over the stratiform component across that state. Also, following the behavior of convective activity the highest clouds are located in northern Rondônia.
